Venitian style Vanity Mirror

Do you know how hard it is to find a great mirror?  Well, let me tell you...it's really hard to find a mirror when you have something particular in mind.

I wouldn't mind getting up every morning to go to work if I had this vanity to get ready at. I love the simple lines of the table top and the chair with the dramatic details of the mirror, this is all a girl could want.

Snug as a bug in a Rug...

I've been in the market lately for a rug.  I have a rug for now, as a place holder, cause I am looking for that perfect fit. Rugs are an investment and I don't want to make the wrong decision.  Here are a few that I've been eying for months.

I actually have this one but it is the FPO and I would keep it that way but it is too small for the space. Yes, sometimes rugs can be too small for a 520 sq ft apartment.

Here are a few I've been scoping out over the last year...I want to hear from you, my readers, which you like best. All rug are from Madeline Weinrib.

Crush of the week

See, most girls have crushes on cute boys...me, I have crushes on beautiful rooms.  Today, my crush, to be exact, is on this mantel.  On our little road trip to Raleigh, NC last weekend I came across this image in House Beautiful. It looks like the mantel is made of some sort of stone.  Love the little details of the mantel itself and the built-ins.  Simple can look dramatic.

Summer Lovin'

I am loving this patio furniture from Crate and Barrel.  S.H. and I love to eat dinner outside--weather permitting--most nights and I think this would be perfect to dine al fresco.

Living Rooms with Color

So a friend of mine mentioned last week, over lunch, that I talk about color but don't show enough in the images I post for inspiration.  Here is an elegant living room with yellow accents.  I hope this is enough color...I think yellow is a happy color.  I still think keeping the major parts of a room neutral and adding one bit of color even if it is a sofa is a great way to go about adding color to your home.

A little inspiration...

This week's inspiration is from a little bit of my own creation.  I have always loved this sofa, from Pottery Barn, and wanted to create a room, for my lovely readers, to see how a simple sofa can make your room a blank canvas for adding accessories to give it a whole new life.  I found the other items in the room on 1st Dibs and Ballard Designs.  The minimalist approach I took with the room leaves opportunity for switching out accessories anytime you get tired of any one item.    I personally like to keep things simple but add colorful pillows to give the room a punch of color.

Lust of the week: note cards

My lust of the week are these great little peony note cards from Kate Spade.  I feel like you can never have enough note cards on hand, right?

Dream on!

This kitchen has been popping up in blogland for a while now and it is my total dream kitchen.  I found it over at High Gloss Blue.  I would die for an all white home but that will never happen.  I would have to pay a little trip to rehab for being OCD cause I was cleaning too much...and we don't want that to happen.

Baby Room Crush

I friend of mine just found out she is having a girl in a couple of months and when I came across this image  of a nursery for a little girl I immediately thought of her.  This proves elegance works in any room...even a nursery.  It is decorated so simple yet so detailed at the same time.  I love the rug, for me, not the nursery!  I believe keeping colors and themes simple make an easy transition from Infant to Toddler to Tween.  Oh that mirror is pretty amazing too!

Mirror, mirror on the wall...

So my bestie L.H.S posted a comment on the post Tub Time about the mirror and how she loved it and was looking for something similar but not so fancy and potentially from the art deco era.  I did a little searching to give her some ideas of where to find similar mirrors for her and her husband's adorable home in KY.

I highly recommend paying a visit, when you are looking for inspiration for anything vintage, to 1st Dibs.  This is a great auction site of all things vintage--clothing, jewelry and decor.  It is really high-end in terms of cost but I enjoy going there to look for inspiration.

Here are a few options I found for her on 1st Dibs to get inspired by--take note I didn't include the cost.  These are a little more simple in the details and I think it is a pretty common mirror on the mass-production market.

My next step in this process of finding the perfect mirror for L.H.S. will be to find it for her for a very reasonable price.  I'll keep you posted of my search for an art deco mirror for her home.

The next image is from Crate and Barrel...I actually have this mirror and would love to get at least 2 more to hang all together and make a statement.  My mother always says objects in 3's always look best.  I will show you pictures when I have my collection complete.  Oh, love the wall color...it reminds me of my magenta chair.

Let me know if you've come across similar mirrors.  Have a great day!

I'm Crazy about this Table and Chairs...

I really wanted to include this image last week in the post about the crush I have on this table but I couldn't remember where I found it.  I love that they combined the traditional chair, mirror and chandiler with a very modern table.  This proves you can mix elegant traditional peices with very modern peices in your home.  What is the deal with all these ornate mirrors lately?  This would go perfectly in my all white dream home.

I found this image at From the Right Bank...check out her blog, it's really cute!

Happy Friday and enjoy your weekend!

Marshmallows are the New Cupcakes

The new trendy dessert to hit the streets is the Marshmallow. Not just any Marshmallow but a gourmet one, of course.  They come in all different flavors and shapes. And I've just recently started seeing them on every menu around the city.  Better yet, they are usually gluten free.  Indulge next time you see these little treats and you'll thank me.

I would love to have this in my blue room!  It almost reminds me of Milk Glass but black of course.

GOOP

If you aren't getting GOOP, the e-newsletter by Gwyneth Paltrow, then you're missing out!  I look forward to it every Thursday when this little bunch of goopness arrives in my in-box.  She breaks her topic of the week into six categories: Make, Go, Get, Do, BE and See.  Last weeks Goop, See, showcased her loft in Nashville.  She worked with Annette Joseph from Atlanta.  They transformed the loft in 10 days to this amazing beauty. Check it out!
